Reset

Our Values & Principles

Reset was established on the belief that accessing therapeutic support should feel approachable, human and responsive to the individual. We believe in making counselling and personal development more accessible, supporting people before they reach crisis point and creating opportunities for meaningful, ethical and sustainable therapeutic work.

Reset is Rosa Stevens’ practice and a collaborative professional space where independent practitioners bring their own experience, specialisms and approaches while retaining their professional independence.

We celebrate difference. We value individuality. We grow together. Belonging does not require sameness. Every person has their own story, identity, experiences, strengths and needs — and the right support looks different for each of us.

Our guiding principles

Accessibility

Making support approachable, without needing to know exactly what you need before making an enquiry. Physical access, cost and availability still matter; the first-floor room is not wheelchair accessible.

Ethical practice

Working within professional competencies, appropriate boundaries, accountability, confidentiality and the relevant professional ethical frameworks.

Individuality and choice

There is no single therapeutic approach or practitioner suitable for everyone. Your preferences and individuality matter.

Finding appropriate support

You need not know what you need before asking. We help people understand their options rather than directing every enquiry to the same service or practitioner. Informed decisions and your autonomy come first.

Collaboration

Encouraging professional connection, shared learning and opportunities to develop specialist interests within appropriate competencies.

Independence

Supporting practitioners to establish and manage their own practices rather than creating dependency on a centralised business model.

Growth and development

Encouraging ongoing learning, reflective practice, professional development and the development of future counsellors.

Community

Creating a welcoming therapeutic environment in Holywood and supporting the wider community through approachable professional services.

Respect and dignity

Your story, identity and circumstances are met without judgement or discrimination. We discuss goals and expectations together rather than making decisions for you.

Confidentiality and trust

Information is handled carefully, with clear explanations of confidentiality and its limits, safeguarding responsibilities and appropriate referrals.

Honesty and accountability

Rosa maintains professional membership, insurance, development and supervision for her own practice. Fees, availability, boundaries and service limitations are explained openly; independents maintain their own arrangements.

Support at the moment of need

A vocation, not just a business.

Rosa Stevens founded Reset with a vision of making counselling more accessible: a welcoming hub where people can find compassionate support when they need it, rather than feeling they must wait until things become a crisis. Preventative work, personal development and ongoing care all have a place here.

Accessibility is something we keep working towards, not a promise that every need can already be met. Cost, availability, physical access and finding someone you feel comfortable with can all matter. If cost is a barrier, the affordability option in Start here lets you enquire about possible student-counsellor support; a place cannot be guaranteed.

Choice, not allocation

Choose the kind of support first, then read about the practitioners who offer it. You can ask to work with someone whose approach feels right for you. If they are unavailable or not the right fit, you can consider an alternative — you do not have to accept it.

Individuality, not conformity

Practitioners bring their own professional knowledge, therapeutic approach, personality and lived understanding. They are not expected to work like Rosa or fit a predetermined mould. Different strengths can create more meaningful opportunities for connection.

Freedom with responsibility

Authentic, independent practice goes alongside appropriate qualifications, competence, supervision, confidentiality, safeguarding and ethical accountability. Rosa’s work is guided by the BACP Ethical Framework; each independent practitioner is accountable to their own relevant professional standards.

Finding a person you feel comfortable with

Different strengths. Informed choices.

No single therapist or approach is right for everyone. Take time to read about a practitioner’s approach, qualifications, experience and who they work with. Ask about their fees and availability before deciding.

An established specialism is supported by relevant training and experience; an area of interest may still be developing. These are not the same, and neither is a ranking of practitioners. You are welcome to ask what experience someone has with the support you need.

A space for independent practice

Reset’s vision is to grow through complementary skills and shared values, not simply to increase practitioner numbers. Individual practitioners can develop their professional identity and areas of interest while working within their competence.

Practitioners who use the Reset space are independent and self-employed, not employed, contracted, supervised or clinically managed by Reset. Each manages their own bookings, fees, agreements, records, insurance and professional responsibilities.

We do not need to be the same to share a commitment to accessible, compassionate and meaningful support.

Developing your independent practice?

Reset welcomes enquiries about potential student placements and regular room hire for qualified practitioners in Holywood.
