Frequently asked questions

Clear answers, before you need to ask.

Browse the essentials about fit, format, fees, confidentiality and next steps. Unless stated otherwise, these answers describe Rosa Stevens’ own Reset practice. Independent practitioners explain their own arrangements directly.

How will I hear about planned annual leave?+

Rosa normally gives at least two weeks’ notice and communicates unexpected absence as soon as reasonably possible. Your usual appointment does not automatically continue during leave; alternative appointments cannot be guaranteed. Read current practice notices. Limited counselling on 29, 30 and 31 December 2026 is by advance arrangement through Wix, not supervision availability. Normal availability resumes Monday 4 January 2027, a dated exception to the usual Monday closure.

Does my monthly counselling subscription pause automatically during leave?+

No. The £190 fee spreads the annual cost of weekly counselling into 12 equal monthly payments. You manage your own pause and restart; contact Rosa or use your usual booking arrangements to discuss changes. Holiday appointments do not automatically alter your subscription.

Where do I complete my practice agreement?+

Rosa provides the service-specific agreement before ongoing work. When you reach that stage, scan the matching QR code on the agreement page with your phone camera; it opens the Microsoft Form. No contract details are collected by this website itself. Each couples partner agrees separately. Your agreement and practice information.

Do I need to know what kind of support I need before contacting Reset?+

No. You can make a brief general enquiry without choosing a service, approach or practitioner. We can help you understand the available options. Ask about your options or use Start here at your own pace.

Can someone help me explore which practitioner might be suitable?+

Yes. Reset can explain the information practitioners have shared about their approaches and experience. This is general signposting, not a clinical suitability decision on someone else’s behalf. Each practitioner decides whether their own service is appropriate.

Do I have to book an assessment with Rosa?+

No. A general enquiry and direct contact with an independent practitioner do not require Rosa’s assessment. If you choose to begin counselling or supervision with Rosa, her assessment is £25 for 30 minutes. Her ongoing counselling fee remains £50 for 50 minutes.

What happens if another independent practitioner may be a better option?+

You can read their profile and contact them directly. Where appropriate, a possible introduction can be discussed with your knowledge and agreement. It does not guarantee an appointment or acceptance; the practitioner makes their own suitability decision and explains their assessment and contracting process.

Are all practitioners at Reset employed by Rosa?+

No. Rosa is the founder and runs her own practice. Independent practitioners at Reset are self-employed, with their own professional identity and responsibilities. They are not Rosa’s clinical team and she does not supervise or clinically manage their work.

Do independent practitioners have their own fees and booking arrangements?+

Yes. Contact your chosen practitioner directly about their fees, suitability, availability, assessment, appointments and contract. Rosa’s prices and Wix bookings do not apply to independent practitioners.

Does booking an assessment guarantee ongoing counselling?+

No. Rosa’s assessment explores your circumstances, preferences, expectations and hopes, whether her service is suitable, and other possible options. Ongoing arrangements and any waiting time are discussed honestly. It does not guarantee ongoing work with Rosa or another practitioner.

Can I have counselling in Italian?+

Yes. Rosa Stevens offers counselling in both English and Italian within her existing Reset practice, with the usual fees and booking arrangements. You can let us know your preferred language before your appointment. Support around immigration experiences, identity and belonging is available in either language; you do not need to have immigrated to choose counselling in Italian.

Can I enquire about a student counselling placement?+

Yes. Students exploring potential placements in Holywood can send a placement enquiry with their training organisation, training stage, start date, required client hours and placement requirements. An enquiry does not guarantee an opportunity; availability, suitability and appropriate professional arrangements must be considered.

Can I hire the counselling room for a one-off appointment?+

No. Room hire is for regular working arrangements only, not one-off, occasional or ad-hoc use. It costs £6 per hour in two-hour blocks (£12), with a 15-minute changeover. Availability is Mondays all day, Tuesday to Friday after 3pm, and weekends all day. Obtain access details before booking and arrange a cut room key before regular use. Read regular room-hire arrangements.

Where do existing practitioners manage their room bookings?+

Use the existing online room management system for your agreed regular blocks. Check and secure bookings before arranging in-person client appointments: availability is not a reservation. Practitioner information and room management.

What are Reset’s values and principles?+

Accessibility, ethical practice, individuality and choice, collaboration, independence, growth and development, and community. Read Our Values & Principles.

Can I create a free Reset account?+

Yes. When booking counselling or coaching with Rosa Stevens, you can create a free account on our existing Wix booking website. Select Sign Up or New to this site? and follow the instructions; existing members select Log In. Registration is optional unless Wix requires it for your booking or plan. Your account and bookings remain on Wix, with no separate registration here. Manage your appointments and account.

How do I manage my appointments online?+

Log in to the Wix account used for your booking and open My Bookings to cancel or reschedule where permitted. Reset’s 48-hour cancellation policy still applies. Open appointment and account guidance. Independent practitioners manage their own appointments directly.

Do I have to work with Rosa to access support at Reset?+

No. You may prefer another therapist, therapeutic approach or area of experience. Read the independent practitioners’ profiles and contact them directly about suitability, fees and availability. You do not have to accept an alternative.

Are independent practitioners part of Rosa’s practice?+

No. They are self-employed and run their own practices, not employed or clinically managed by Reset or working under Rosa’s registration. They are responsible for their own insurance, registration, fees, bookings, client records, confidentiality, safeguarding and complaints arrangements. Reset’s prices, plans and policies do not automatically apply to their work.

Do you offer face-to-face and online sessions?+

Yes. Every appointment is treated as face-to-face in Holywood unless Reset has received your email asking for an online session, so please Click here to request an online session — we will confirm before your first session. Online is available for every service across Northern Ireland and the wider UK. The practice room is on the first floor and reached by stairs, so unfortunately we are not wheelchair friendly — if step-free access is important to you, an online session is likely to suit best.

Are you accepting new clients?+

Availability changes over time. The external booking calendar shows current openings; if nothing suitable appears, send a brief availability enquiry.

When is Reset open?+

Reset works Tuesday to Friday, 8:00am–3:00pm, and the practice is closed on Mondays, Saturdays and Sundays. Bookings can be made on the booking website at any time. Messages sent outside those hours are read when Reset is next at the practice — Reset is not a crisis service, so if you need urgent help please see the getting the right support page.

What is the difference between counselling and coaching?+

Counselling can make space for emotional distress, past experiences and patterns. Coaching is usually future-focused around goals, choices and action. Suitability matters more than a rigid label.

How does confidentiality work?+

Your privacy is taken seriously. Confidentiality has professional and legal limits, including safeguarding concerns. These are explained clearly before ongoing work begins.

Do you keep notes about me?+

The only notes Reset keeps are generally shared with you: follow-up session summaries, safety plans when needed, and the work agreed in session. No other client notes are stored, so you have full transparency and access to your own notes.

What is the cancellation policy?+

A 48-hour cancellation policy applies to all bookings — monthly plan sessions, pay-as-you-go sessions, couples, coaching and supervision. You can cancel or rearrange directly on the booking website; if you have any issues, please text or email Reset at your earliest convenience. Late cancellation or non-attendance normally incurs the full session fee; exceptional circumstances may be considered.

Can I send personal details through the contact page?+

Please do not send clinical histories or confidential details. Sensitive counselling and supervision information is collected through an appropriate secure Microsoft form after booking — it asks only for details Reset needs to safeguard and support you, including being able to respond in an emergency, and is handled under GDPR.

Is Reset a crisis service?+

No. If you are in immediate danger, call 999. For urgent emotional support, contact Samaritans free on 116 123 or Lifeline Northern Ireland on 0808 808 8000.

Can Reset give me a diagnosis?+

No. Counsellors do not diagnose or prescribe. If you are looking for a diagnosis, please speak to your GP, who can refer you to the Adult Mental Health Team or another specialist service. You can still have counselling alongside this. See the Getting the right support page for more.

What does trauma-informed counselling mean?+

In simple terms: trauma-informed means understanding how trauma can affect someone and making sure the therapeutic relationship and work take that into account. It does not automatically mean providing specialist trauma treatment. You remain in control of what you share and when; you do not have to revisit painful memories to benefit from counselling. Read about trauma-informed practice.

What EMDR training has Rosa completed?+

Rosa has completed European EMDR Level 1 training and is undertaking further EMDR training at Queen's University Belfast, with Level 3 training expected in December 2026. EMDR forms part of her ongoing professional development. Whether it is appropriate depends on your individual circumstances, therapeutic needs, readiness and Rosa's current training and competence. EMDR is not automatically offered to every client, and Rosa has not completed EMDR accreditation.

Can Reset support me with the loss of my pet?+

Yes. Pet grief is a specialism of Reset’s, and it is grief like any other — the loss, the routine that’s gone, the guilt, the questions about whether you’re allowed to feel it this badly. You don’t need to justify it here. You can come to counselling for pet loss on its own, or alongside anything else that’s going on.

Does Reset offer spiritual coaching?+

Yes. Spiritual coaching is part of Reset’s coaching practice: exploring meaning, values and belief as part of moving forward, in a way that fits you rather than a set belief system. It sits alongside her other coaching — it isn’t a replacement for counselling, and if counselling is what you actually need, she’ll say so and help you find the right route.

Can I have counselling and supervision with Rosa at the same time?+

No. BACP's Ethical Framework states that dual or multiple relationships should be “avoided where the risks of harm to the client outweigh any benefits to the client” (Good Practice, point 33), and Reset takes a clear line on this one: counselling and clinical supervision are not offered to the same person at the same time. If both would help, they happen one at a time. BACP sets no fixed waiting period before a former client can become a supervisee — its wording is that “enough time has elapsed” — so once your counselling has ended and a suitable length of time has passed, you're very welcome to ask about supervision and Reset will talk the timing through with you. Full details, with links to BACP's own guidance, are on the Policies page.

What is the stepped care model?+

It is the approach used by the NHS and Health and Social Care NI: you are offered the least intensive support likely to help, from self-help, through counselling (where Reset works), to specialist mental health teams and crisis care, stepping up or down as needs change.

How does Reset work ethically?+

Reset works within the BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions and the SCoPEd framework, attends regular supervision, works within its competence and will signpost you if another service would suit you better.

Does Reset use AI?+

Yes, transparently and carefully. Reset uses AI (currently Google Gemini) as an administrative and reflective aid — for example to help draft session follow-up summaries. No personally identifiable information is ever entered, activity history is disabled so nothing is used to train AI models, and every clinical decision is made by Reset alone. Full details are on the Policies page.

How does confidentiality work in couples counselling?+

Couples work uses a “No Secrets” policy: if either partner has individual contact with Reset, the content is brought into the next joint session — no secrets are kept between partners, and the therapist's allegiance is to the relationship as a whole. Each partner also completes a pre-screening assessment individually before the first session.
